Would you like to be known as the local expert in your area? Well, here's one way you can do that. Have you ever thought about hosting an event? Yeah, you have a lot of knowledge and you, your knowledge can help a lot of people and believe it or not, there are people out there who are looking for information. First time home buyers, real estate investors, whatever other thing you can come up that revolves around real estate. You can host an event and make it easier, you can team up with a financial advisor, maybe a mortgage broker, a home inspector and yourself. So you have four people put on an event, do a presentation, give valuable information and you're probably thinking, Joe, I can't do an event that's intimidating. What if no one shows up? It's really not that hard. People are out there looking and if you start ahead of time, 30 45 days and you get on meetup, a vet bright and you get people to RSVP to your event, push a little bit of Facebook ads and then also invite your friends, family, colleagues to come and kind of fill up the chairs and also give you feedback of how the event went.
Doing an event like this can be a huge stepping stone for you as a local expert and as someone who wants to grow their sphere. Here's the thing. Once you do the event, you will be able to connect with a lot more people. Plus if you get someone to video it or take some pictures, now you can leverage that across your social media, your website, your bio. This is going to help build credibility online too. So think about this after the event as well, so that's another way you can leverage an event. Here's the thing, I'm always in for leveraging something every way I can to get the best results. Another thing you can do is take this to your chamber. Local chambers when they're having mixers. They love having speakers come in and if you say, I have a 30-minute pitch with a financial advisor, mortgage broker or home inspector and myself, you have it polished cause you used it at your event, they will take you up on that many times.
Now you're talking to everyone who shows up at the chamber mixer. Plus you can also many times get them to send that out to their list. The chamber gets a lot of people, um, requesting visitor packets. Now many times you get your chamber to send out this video to people who are looking to move to the area to buy or sell. You just have to be the agent that's willing to be creative. The one that asks the questions, the one that puts the event together, the one who is the local expert. Now if you really want to knock this out of the park, you can also take this and team up with organizations in your area. Maybe you sponsor a pet adoption. Maybe you sponsor a school event. Um, a lot, a library event. There's reading events, uh, children at risk events. There's so many of 'em and if you have a polished presentation like this, you can drop off the hat, be ready to give it, present it, and then also have your system down where you have, you know, clipboards out.
So if someone wants more information or you have a number on the screen that they text from their smartphone and it sends their information to you and maybe gives them a free gift as well, maybe it's, uh, a guide on what you talked about. Any way that you can get more contact information from your audience and give more value. This really doesn't take that much work and this will help you with your presentation skills as well. Now if you'd want to practice something like this, you could join maybe your local Toastmasters. Toastmasters is an old organization that hopes public speaking skills help you develop them. You could go there, present this, get feedback, Polish it up, and then go present it to your audience as well. And it's a living, breathing thing. This isn't a once done and over with. You're going to perfect this presentation over time and over time very quickly because many agents won't do this. You will become the local expert in your area.
