Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to Tokyo for the 15th Annual India-Japan Summit. The visit underscores deepening trust between the countries amidst changing dynamics in geopolitics and global partnerships. At the Summit, PM Modi and Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba reaffirmed the depth of a partnership that has steadily evolved from the days of Maruti Suzuki to today’s bullet train and cutting-edge defense and space cooperation. Japan, underscoring its long-term stake in India’s growth story, pledged $68 billion of investments over the next decade across infrastructure, clean energy, digital transformation, and industrial corridors. PM Modi also inaugurated Suzuki’s Made in India “e VITARA” in Gujarat—Suzuki’s first global strategic battery EV—which will be exported to over 100 countries, making India a hub for Suzuki’s electric vehicle push. From high-speed rail and the Delhi Metro to the LUPEX lunar mission and defense co-production, India-Japan ties exemplify trust, shared Indo-Pacific visions, and a commitment to reformed multilateralism, with both nations playing pivotal roles in ensuring regional stability and shaping a free and open Indo-Pacific.
