Making An Extra Extra Long Hex Socket DIY Tool

Описание к видео Making An Extra Extra Long Hex Socket DIY Tool

My "extra long" hex socket tool wasn't long enough for the fork I was working on. The bit was only 5 inches long. I needed a longer hex socket tool with a bit at least 6 inches long. But all the hex socket tools I found seemed to be about the same as the one I already had. So I decided to make an extra extra long hex socket tool with a shaft about 7 inches long. Check out some of my other DIY homemade tool videos.

* I know I will get asked why not use a long T-Handle wrench. Because the bolts at the bottom of the fork can be very tight, and it would hard to loosen the bolt with a T-Handle hex wrench without some sort of cheater bar. And then the bolts need to be torqued down again during reassembly. All very hard to do with a T-Handle wrench.

* Just using an extension won't work as the bolt is down a deep, recessed, narrow hole. I already have to use an extension to reach the hole, but I need a 6+ inch hex socket to reach down into the hole. See here: https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy...

* In the Rock Shox service docs for this fork, they list "Long (6" minimum) 6mm hex 3/8" drive socket (6" + of hex wrench protruding from socket)" as the tool to use.
