With Lyrics by Marty Symes & Music by Isham Jones, "There Is No Greater Love" is a 1936 jazz standard composed by Isham Jones, with lyrics by Marty Symes. It was the last hit song for Jones's orchestra before the bandleader turned the orchestra over to Woody Herman, beginning the latter's 50 year career as a bandleader.

The song is often played as a ballad -- an example of this approach is Dinah Washington's 1954 recording on Dinah Jams. Medium-tempo swing renditions have also been recorded by several artists, including Miles Davis on two occasions.

Billie's accompanied by, Billy Butterfield tp; Bill Stegmeyer cl & as; Toots Mondello, Al Klink as; Hank Ross, Artie Drelinger ts; Bobby Tucker p; Danny Perry g; Bob Haggart B; Bunny Shawker ds. Recorded February 14, 1947, New York. (Decca Records)

There is no greater love

Than what I feel for you

No greater love no heart so true

There is no greater thrill

Than what you bring to me

No sweeter song

Than what you sing to me

You're the sweetest thing

I have ever known

And to think that you are mine alone

There is no greater love

In all the world it's true

No greater love

Than what I feel for you

You're the sweetest thing

I have ever known

And to think that you are mine alone

There is no greater love

In all the world it's true

No greater love

Than what I feel for you
