After Shrikrishna returned to the Pandavas after his unsuccessful peace mission with Kauravas, everyone realised that the war was imminent. After the war became a reality, it was time to assess the strengths of the enemy. Everyone now realised how mighty the adversary was with such great warriors like Bhisma Drona Karna and many other very powerful warriors supporting them. Also the Pandavas assessed that the total strength of their forces were significantly lower than that of the Kauravas. These factors made them realise the need to appoint a very capable commander in chief to led their army. As it turned out, there were several men who were competent. For that reason, choosing was a difficult task. Each of the four Pandava brothers suggested a different commander to Yudhsithir. So he finally left the decision to Shrikrishna, who endorsed the choice of Arjun. As soon as the choice was made, great joy erupted in the Pandava camp. The army began became impatient to rush to the battle field and take toll of their enemies.
