Sony Bravia TV and HD Cable box - Zoomed or cut picture fix

If your picture seems to be cutting off peoples heads, sports scores or even stock ticker information, you are probably in a zoom mode of either the television, or your HD Cable box.

On your sony tv remote, please find the WIDE button, and press it ti'll you highlight either Normal or Full, Both these modes force the tv to show the entire image it is receiving.

If after setting the tv to Normal or Full using the WIDE button on the Sony tv remote, you still find the image is being cut, you are probably in a zoom mode of the HD Cable box.

On the HD cable box remote, please find the button with the # symbole. It's usually under the number 9 and it is called either Aspect or HD Zoom. Please press this button until you see the Normal mode displayed.

If the tv is set to either Wide Mode FULL or NORMAL, and the HD Cable box is set to NORMAL, then you will see the complete picture as it was intended to be broadcast. If there are black bars on the side, it is because it was never filmed in an HD film ratio of 16:9 and the bars are placed there to keep the picture in it's proper shape. It is your choice if you want to use these zoom buttons mentionned above to stretch or zoom the image.
