This is an installation made for the Acne LA Party by Eskil Steenberg. The idea came about when i considered why people don't feel as uncomfortable when their privacy is being violated by a computer reading your mail as when a stranger stares at you on the bus, despite the fact that someone staring at you would get very little private information about you as opposed to someone monitoring your electronic communication. So i decided to build an installation that would be a machine acting in a emotional and socially unaceptable way.

The technology consists of a PC connected to two projectors. The first projector projects the graphics and text on a face wall we built in out kitchen area. At the center of this wall we have two holes. In the first one we have a Asus Xtion Camera that we use to track everyone in the room using a custom head tracking algorithm. In the second hole we have the second projector projecting on to the people in the room. by adding some smoke in the roll this projector creates some very nice beams. All graphics are rendered in realtime and different people will get different messages. The graphics where made using a new FX tool developed at Quel Solaar called Confuse. The graphics also consists of point cloud faces photographed using a Intel Perceptual computing camera. These images are taken and then sent over the wifi using custom protocol to the installation.
