Finally, the Indian government has decided to ban Single-Use plastics. Single-Use plastic means plastic bags, disposable cutlery, straws, water bottles, etc.

You must have seen these kinds of big mountains of garbage in some major Indian cities. But do you know that these cities produce around 26,000 tons of single-use plastic per day?

Out of thousands of tons of plastic that is collected every day, only 60 percent is recycled. And the remaining portion keeps on decomposing for 200 to 500 years and ultimately pollutes the environment for a long time.

In the period when this plastic undergoes the decomposition phase, the plastic starts to convert into the micro-plastic and then this micro-plastic enters the bodies of aquatic fauna, land animals as well as human beings through water and air, which becomes a major cause of cancer and all those fatal diseases.

Some samples of drinking water were collected from the major cities of India recently, and you will be shocked to hear that those samples were also contaminated with micro-plastic. Apart from all this, scientists have also got this micro-plastic in the fresh snow of the Antarctic.

As the amount of micro-plastic is increasing in the water, food, oceans, and air, keeping the same into consideration, the Indian government is banning the use of single-use plastic.
