In Civil complaint or disputes Police will not interfere. But when civil disputes affects any any law & order situation or any commission of any offences occurs, Police will interfere and take action. Police deals with Law & Order and Criminal matters only.

Contract Law is a Civil Law.

Contract is an Agreement enforceable by law as per Section 2 (h) of Indian Contract Act 1872.
Section 10 of Indian Contract Act 1872 says, "All agreements are contracts if they are made by the free consent of parties competent to contract, for a lawful consideration and with a lawful object, and are not hereby expressly declared to be void".

Cheating is an offence as per Indian Penal Code. Sections 415 to 420 deals with Cheating.

Recently, police complaint was received against Malayalam Film Stars Dharmajan Bolgatty and Baburaj. There was breach of Contract. But complaint was given for Cheating under IPC.
Lets check the possibility of Cheating in a Breach of Contract.
