I'm finally bringing the 1940s back after a selection of 60s & 70s music videos over the past few months!

Get ready for some questionable attempts at 'air piano' in this number! One of my favourite Andrews Sisters songs - I adore performing this live with the Bluebird Belles.

I thought it was time the uniforms had a polish and some TLC so that they could feature in another performance. Wearing my original WAAF (1943), ATS (1941) and WRNS (1944) uniforms 🇬🇧

'Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar' - "The title adopts 1940s' hipster slang coined by writer Don Raye's friend, Ray McKinley, a drummer and lead singer in the Jimmy Dorsey band in the 1930s. McKinley kicked off certain uptempo songs by asking pianist Freddie Slack (nicknamed "Daddy") to give him a boogie beat, or "eight to the bar". For that reason Raye gave a partial songwriting credit to McKinley."

The writers Don Raye & Hughie Prince also wrote arguably the Andrews Sisters' most famous hit, 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy'.
