Nickel Extraction from Philippine Nickel Laterite Deposits for Battery Grade Raw Materials

This research aims to develop a nickel extraction technology specifically tailored for the Philippine lateritic ores to produce battery-grade nickel. The research consists of the characterization of local ores and developing a suitable extraction process that will produce market-ready Ni.

This project is a value-adding activity that will shed light on the potential of nickel and other useful derivatives to be produced locally. This can lead to the creation of nickel processing plants that will generate jobs and will be beneficial to the local economy. Finally, the project outcomes can potentially open new markets for the country and further strengthen the Philippines’ reputation as a reliable source of laterite ores and world-class battery-grade nickel in the global market.
