Collecting luxury watches is a pleasure and a breeze with Tim Mosso’s “Wake Up with Watches!” WatchBox, the world leader in preowned luxury watches supplies the best watch brand while Tim supplies the narrative in YouTube’s only curated video gallery of the best luxury watch models. With a peerless selection of models from Breitling, Omega watches, Rolex, and high horology icons like Vacheron Constantin, “WUWW” is the best way to shop for watches this holiday season.

Rolex watches assume a leading role on today’s program thanks to two outstanding examples of the brand’s most redoubtable references. A first-generation vintage Rolex Daytona 6239 (1-million serial number) provides insight into the earliest iteration of Rolex’s famous sports chronograph. With a 37mm case, a Plexiglas crystal, and a manual-wind Valjoux-based Rolex caliber 72, this Cosmograph is a time machined programmed for the era when Ford GTs, Ferrari 250LMs, and Shelby Cobra Daytonas raced on the road courses of the world.

The 2020 Rolex Submariner is the hottest watch of the year. Now 41mm in the famous Rolex 904L steel alloy, the Submariner dive watch here can be seen in its purest “no-date Sub” form. Technically, there are no “no-date Submariners,” there are only Submariner Dates and Submariners. This watch is the latter. Despite its larger case size, the Submariner wears almost identically to the previous model, and several degrees of adjustment—up to 20mm – are built into the Glidelock diving clasp. With a 300-meter water resistance rating and a ceramic-capped unidirectional dive bezel, the 2020 Submariner remains the dive watch class-standard. A new Rolex caliber 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve adds to the catalog of improvements.

Omega watches often do battle with Rolex both in the marketplace and in the hearts of watch collectors. Today’s program showcases a new-for-2015 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “First Omega in Space” in its uncommon Sedna rose gold specification. This tribute to the vintage Omega Speedmaster CK2998 is a luxurious nod to the Speedmaster personally owned and worn by American astronaut Wally Schirra on NASA mission Mercury-Atlas 8 in 1962.

Diving enthusiasts – and dive watch enthusiasts – will enjoy the presence of an Omega Seamaster “Tri Tone” in titanium, tantalum, and rose gold. This 2018 limited edition of 2,500 pieces was a model designed to celebrate 25 years of Omega’s famed Seamaster Diver 300M. The original SMP 300M was launched in 1993 and rose to fame on the wrist of Pierce Brosnan during his turn as James Bond. All of the features made famous by Agent 007 are present and correct on this triple metal monster, but the titanium no-date dial and rose gold individual number plate are exclusive to this model.

Finally, Breitling, the longtime rival to both Omega and Rolex, shines thanks to a 2020 Breitling SuperOcean Heritage ’57 II.
