Flight Simulator 2020 - Garmin 530/430 tutorial, part 1. Basic operations and enroute VFR features

Welcome to Alpha Hotel Flight Simulator training.

This video is part 1 in a 3 part series of in-depth training on the Garmin GNS 530 and 430 series GPS receivers. During the series, we'll look at all of the functions and features of these units, and how to use them in all phases of flight. We'll also talk a little about the differences between the units in Flight Simulator and the real world, and how you should handle these differences.

Part 1 focuses on the basic controls, displays, and functions of the units - and how to use them for VFR operations and navigation - including direct navigation, and creating and editing flight plans.

These units are installed on a number of aircraft in Flight Simulator, and the basic functions are similar to those used on all Garmin and Garmin-like avionics in the game - including the G1000 & G3000 panels, and the GNT clones. Learning to use them will greatly enhance your flight simulator experience.
