China - Gore addresses press conference

US Vice President Al Gore on Wednesday (26/3) gave an upbeat assessment of his visit to Beijing and said Chinese President Jiang Zemin's state visit to Washington was all set for the autumn. He was addressing a press conference after talks with Jiang Zemin and Premier Li Peng.
Away from the diplomatic wrangling of her husband's official schedule, Tipper Gore spent the afternoon dancing with delighted children at a local activity centre. The children's centre in the west of Beijing entertains and watches over children who might otherwise be latchkey children because their parents are off at work all day.
