The 1912 sinking of the legendary luxury liner continues to hold fascination more than 85 years later in a parade of new dramas (and a musical) about the famed event. Leading it was this two-part, four-hour version blending fictional and true-life stories with a big cast headed by George C. Scott as the ship's captain. Marilu Henner does a turn as the "unsinkable" Molly Brown in this tale directed by her husband, Robert Lieberman. This Titanic was followed in spring 1997 by the Broadway musical and then the massively budgeted theatrical version that, because of production problems, had its release postponed two times until the 1997 Christmas season. This is the premiere of both parts in full with original commercials from CBS on November 17th and 19th of 1996. Letterbox only lasts ~4 minutes, the beginning was missing from my tape so I outsourced to fill.
