MILITARY CHARITY WILL TAP INTO CONNECTICUT CRAFT BEER COMMUNITY FOR SUPPORT
Brewers Support the CT National Guard Foundation through Ales of Honor Campaign
Granby, Conn. -- Brewpubs across the state are joining forces with the CT Beer Trail to offer a series of special beers hand crafted with the goal of providing a portion of the proceeds to the CT National Guard Foundation which supports members of the National Guard and their families.
The first beer will go on tap on Tuesday, July 9th at the Cambridge House Brew Pub in Granby. With each glass of beer purchased, an additional 50 cents will be contributed to the cause, and each 64 ounce growler sold will raise the foundation an additional $2.
"We're within about seven miles from the base here at Bradley Airport," said Scott Riley, owner of the Cambridge House Brew Pub of Granby. "...they come in and support us; [we] thought it might be nice to give back to the community a little bit."
Those interested in supporting this effort can also contribute to the cause online and get a variety of unique incentives like exclusive beer release event access, participation in a party bus tour, and even a chance to brew alongside a professional brewer. Contributions can be made via AlesOfHonor.com.
"The state's craft beer industry is filled with some of the most generous professionals I've ever worked with," said Bryon Turner, CT Beer Trail founder and Ales of Honor developer. "When I approached them with this idea they were eager to brew some great beer and support this worthy cause with their time, efforts and resources. Now we're hoping the state's craft beer community rallies to support this project by buying the beer and contributing online."
Two other brewpubs are scheduled to participate in this project in the coming months including Tullycross Tavern & Microbrewery in Manchester and the Willimantic Brewing Co. in Willimantic. Each location will make their own special brew and offer a portion of their proceeds to the charity through the Ales of Honor project. Details on these additional beer releases will be announced in the weeks and months to come.
All participating locations will also offer consumers the chance to collect limited edition commemorative dog tags, limited to 100 designed for each brewpub. Those that collect each dog tag and earn an Ales of Honor mug by donating online can enter to win special prizes including a private limo brewery tour courtesy of the CT Beer Trail and Gateway Limousine.
