The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fourth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and was released for PC and Xbox 360 in March 2006. It was released for Playstation 3 in March 2007.

The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat the Oblivion invasion and the Mythic Dawn plan to bring Mehrunes Dagon into Tamriel. The game begins six years after the events of Morrowind, in the 3rd era – year 433. Emperor Uriel Septim VII is taken down by the Mythic Dawn while trying to escape the Imperial City. Before his demise, he hands you the Amulet of Kings, telling you to close shut the jaws of Oblivion. Only you can stop the daedra and ensure the future of Tamriel, fending off the Prince of Destruction himself! The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.
