S T O R Y L I N E

Simba is talking to Kovu at the start, wishing he could go back to the way things were. He remembers how happy they were before, but despairs because he feels so far away.

flashback

Mufasa gets angry at Simba for being with Kovu because he's old fashioned and closed-minded. Simba is torn between his love for his father and his love for Kovu, but eventually (though he is heartbroken) decides to honour his father and break up with Kovu. Kovu becomes angry, and Simba is ashamed of himself and instead of trying to choose between them decides to live with neither and runs away. Kovu grows up alone, waiting for him to come back, not even sure if their relationship still exists but unable to move on. He has moments where he thinks that Simba must have turned away from him, while Simba dreams that Kovu must hate him for what he has done to him.

present

Rafiki has had enough of them being all angsty, so he transports Simba (via the magic pond XD) back to the pridlands to sort it out. Kovu is upset at first, as seeing Simba older made him realise all the years they lost that they could have spent together. He thinks Simba has come to hurt him more, but then Simba apologises and they are happy together at last.

This is a dedication too, to splittykinz, because she's going through a hard time, and I thought she needed something to let her know she's cared for.

It is also an entry for her productions team, quiet melodies. I like making all kinds of video, I really do, but slow, sad songs need more representation on yt, and I'd really like to be in a team dedicated to bringing them back, because I love working with other people. Also, I admire splitty's work - I'm honestly not trying to suck up, but I aspire to be as brave as her and upload so many slow, sad, emotive videos, because honest to god I have a lot of emotion that I just seem to find difficult to express, even over the internet.
