Dessauer Marsch (Der Alte Dessauer) - Fife & Drum, Hautbois

Описание к видео Dessauer Marsch (Der Alte Dessauer) - Fife & Drum, Hautbois

This is a fife and drum arrangement I made of the German march "Dessauer Marsch" (also known as “Der Alte Dessauer”, “the Old Dessauer”), a tune from the early 18th century. It was allegedly played at the camp of Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau after the indecisive Battle of Cassano in Italy during the War of the Spanish Succession. The march became Leopold’s favourite, and bears his name. The drums and the lower fife parts in the reprise are of my own making. In the middle and last section the fifes are joined by oboes, common instruments in military music of the time.

The image shows a scene from the Battle of Cassano, between French and allied German, Austrian and Savoyard troops, with the town of Cassano in the background. The painting is an 18th century copy by an original made by Jan van Huchtenburg, a Dutch painter of the late 17th and early 18th century.

This music will appear as soundtrack in the upcoming "Seven Years War" mod for Rome Total War. If you want to know more, check out the Discord link or ModDB page below (the Discord is the one most frequently updated). Cheers to the modders for their hard work, I'm happy to be on the team!
