What NASA chief Just Did For SpaceX Just Changed Spaceflight Forever!
Jared Isaacman has officially taken the role of NASA’s new administrator. And one of his very first moves after taking office could mean immediately putting SLS and Orion straight onto the scrub list, while ramping up funding for SpaceX’s Starship.
This isn’t speculation. The clearest evidence is that, recently, Isaacman was seen on social media openly defending Starship after someone claimed, “SLS works. Orion works. It’s Starship that’s the holdup here.”
So how exactly did he respond and leave that person speechless? Let’s find out in today’s episode of Alpha Tech.
What NASA chief Just Did For SpaceX Just Changed Spaceflight Forever!
From a 16-year-old high school dropout who started a computer services company with friends and turned it into Shift4 Payments, making him a billionaire, he didn’t stop there. He became a civilian astronaut: commanding Inspiration4 in 2021, then Polaris Dawn in 2024 with the first non-government spacewalk. And just on December 17, 2025, the U.S. Senate confirmed him as NASA’s 15th administrator with a vote of 67-30! And now, he’s at the helm of the most powerful space agency in the world! Yes, we’re talking about Jared Isaacman, a true self-made icon of the space industry.
Because of this, he received congratulations from many major companies, partners he will work with in the future, like Lockheed Martin, Vast Space, Blue Origin, and many others.
But the strange thing is, the company he seems closest to, SpaceX, and of course Elon Musk, didn’t congratulate him at all. Why is that?

Actually, it’s not cold-shouldering; it’s a safe move. During his Senate confirmation hearings, Isaacman was grilled about his relationship with Musk and SpaceX. He emphasized, “I fly with SpaceX simply because it’s the only company that can get people to orbit. My relationship with Musk is no different than with NASA.”
He even made it clear: “No dinner photos or yacht selfies exist because they never happened.” This is how he avoided potential conflict of interest accusations from the Democrats and made himself appear more independent as NASA’s leader.
But no matter how much they played it cool, everyone knows how close Isaacman really is with SpaceX, especially recently, when he was spotted replying to a critical comment on a post by renowned space journalist Eric Berger.
The commenter argued that while SLS and Orion had already proven themselves with Artemis 1, SpaceX Starship was still stuck in test flights and falling behind schedule.
In response, Isaacman fired back with a detailed rebuttal that left the commenter speechless: "Despite your proclivity to lob shots at SpaceX, there is really nothing great about this picture. Orion: More than 20 years old, has never flown humans, and revealed unexpected heat shield issues on its first mission. SRBs: The most recent booster test ended with an anomaly."
