As the New Year approaches, major pilgrimage centres across India are stepping up preparations to manage the expected surge of devotees and ensure smooth, safe and hassle-free darshan.

In Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh, the district administration has implemented special measures to avoid congestion as large numbers of pilgrims arrive to welcome the New Year. Authorities have introduced one-way movement routes, arranged separate parking facilities and restricted special protocol darshan to VVIPs only. Boating services have also been suspended due to safety concerns, while officials have been deployed across the town throughout the week to manage crowds and ensure devotee safety.

Meanwhile, the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district is already witnessing a heavy influx of pilgrims. Devotees are arriving in large numbers to seek blessings for the New Year, expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, security deployment and overall management at the shrine.

Across the country, lakhs of devotees are thronging religious centres to end 2025 and begin the New Year on a spiritual note. Local administrations remain on high alert, working round the clock to ensure smooth movement, crowd control and a safe pilgrimage experience.
