Bran Castle, otherwise known as the Dracula's Castle of Karpathians, is situated near Bran and in the immediate vicinity of Brașov. It is a national monument and an important landmark in Romania. It was completed by 1382, in record time, and was built for the purpose of defending Transylvania's border and included a customs station. The fortress is situated on the Transylvanian side of the historical border with Wallachia.
