Learn how to crochet a super fun colour block chequered style scarf! With a super simple ONE ROW REPEAT and a nifty colour change trick, this video walks you through step by step how to crochet this scarf.

🧶 Yarn & Hook information:
Suitable for any yarn - use the recommended hook size for your chosen yarn or for extra drape, increase the hook size by 0.5mm from the recommended size

For my scarf I used Bella Coco Merino Wool with a 4.5mm in the following shades - listed in order of use:
Raspberry (shade number 26)
Ballerina (shade number 14)
Corn (shade number 17)
Flamingo (shade number 20)
Tea Green (shade number 9)
Seafoam (shade number 29)
Cornflower (shade number 11)
Lavender (shade number 24)

For my personal scarf I started with Raspberry and made 17 Foundation Double Crochet Stitches then switched to Ballerina for another 17 Foundation Double Crochet Stitches.
Each block is 8 row tall

Rows 17 - 24 Start with Corn
Rows 33 - 40 Start with Tea Green
Rows 49 - 56 Start with Cornflower

How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!

How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀

Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: https://www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found.
