It's Grim Up North | Bad North: Jotunn Edition - Part 1 (Real-Time Tactics Roguelite)

Bad North: Jotunn Edition is a wonderful game about killing Vikings. Lots and lots of Vikings. They're invading our beloved little island nation and so naturally we need to kick them off our islands to give us a chance to gather our people and escape before the Viking armada arrives.

To do this we acquire Generals and their armies, who we can then train up to adopt different classes, such as archers, infantry or pikes. We then choose islands to protect from our island chain, position our troops and wait for the vikings to come at us!

However, as we improve our troops so do the Vikings improve theirs, sending warriors with shields and archers with deadly arrows. Those pesky pillagers!

It’s charmingly brutal, with beautiful procedurally-generated islands and adorable soldiers juxtaposed against the blood-stained realities of war. You control the broad strokes of the battle, giving high level commands to your soldiers who try their best to carry them out in the heat of the moment. It’s accessibly deep, with simple player inputs masking a dynamic combat simulation that make it inviting to new players while challenging veterans.

Keep fighting, warriors. Not for power or riches or glory, but for hope of peace to come once again in the harsh lands of the Bad North.
