Mind that duckling! Motorists in Minnesota break and swerve to avoid family of ducks crossing busy interstate highway

Deliberately running over an animal may go against most drivers' instincts but that is exactly what Minnesota's highway patrol is advising motorists to do after a family of ducklings almost caused a pile-up on one of the state's busiest roads.
CCTV footage shows drivers on Interstate 35 stopping or swerving to avoid a mother duck as she leads a line of ducklings across the four-lane highway.
Remarkably, the tiny duck convoy makes it across unscathed after at least a dozen cars take evasive action.
However, despite none of the drivers' sudden lane changes and emergency stops resulting in any crashes, the Minnesota State Patrol has said the risk from stopping for wildlife is too high.
It has warned motorists that they could face criminal charges in future if their actions result in a crash that causes a fatal or serious injury to other drivers.
Hopefully this mother duck will find a safer place to lay her eggs next time!
