The High Court has extended orders barring the government from allowing any genetically modified organisms into the country pending the hearing of the matter. High Court Judge Mugure Thande extended the order temporarily stopping the ministries of Agriculture and Trade from allowing any GMO products into the country until parties to the application highlight their submissions on the 13th of February 2023. This as religious leaders urged the government to suspend the ban indefinitely and allow for adequate public discourse and participation on the subject as envisioned in the constitution.
