She later became pregnant by him. When she informed him, he rejected her, but later allowed her to stay, and they lived together as husband and wife. However, he eventually became abusive, fueled by false rumors. He was later arrested.

Lucy recalls turning to dancing in clubs for money, and eventually taking on additional work. One client assaulted her so severely that he knocked out her front teeth.

Another client took her to a gravesite, pointing out his brother's burial place and asking her to entertain the deceased—forcing her into actions too disturbing to describe.
