She released her first album at 19 and immediately won 2 Grammys. At 22,she released what became the best-selling album of all time in the UK.At 24, she reached number 6 on Forbes magazine's list. When talking about Adele,it's impossible to avoid the adjectives”phenomenal"and"brilliant."And it's equally difficult to tell her story without citing astonishing figures. One of the world's best-selling singers, she's even been mentioned several times in the Guinness Book of World Records and she's only 37!How many more times will she surprise us?Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was a sweet, smiling, blonde child. From her Welsh father, she inherited her blond hair, large frame and height and a funny,ear-to-ear smile. Her mother was 18 when Adele was born and by 20, she was already a single mother.Adele's father simply left home one day and never returned. The young mother didn't want to darken her and her daughter's lives with unnecessary complaints. She decided that they would be the happiest in the world! Her father appeared in her life several times—a couple of colorless photos, like her memories of him, remind us of this: a blonde girl sitting on the lap of a blond giant. Many years later,Mark Evans, Adele's father, now famous worldwide, would give an interview in which he would say he deeply regretted not being a better father to her and wished he could turn back time.Enraged by his"confessions,"Adele would reply,"If I ever see him again,I'll spit in his face."He didn't have to.He finally disappeared from her life in 2021;she learned of his death and felt as if she'd released a balloon into the sky.Adele had a whole army of cousins. They were all close and met often."I was never alone in the family because I wasn't raised just by my mother, but by our entire extended family.More than once, you had to fight to make your voice heard because everyone was shouting and chatting at once!"This is one of the reasons she found her voice as a child:simply to be heard. At 4,Adele discovered Ella Fitzgerald and began imitating the jazz diva. This amused everyone: how could a little girl sing in such a low, powerful voice?! “I was one of those kids who said,‘I want to be a ballerina. No, a saxophonist! No,a weather girl!’ And my mother took me to all these classes and said, ‘Do what you want, because if you’re happy,I’m happy too.’”Many years later, at the Grammy Awards,a 23-year-old world-famous Adele, holding several golden gramophones in her hands, would say, “Mom, your girl is doing great!”She will dedicate her cover version of"Lovesong"by her favorite band,The Cure, to her—it will be a piece of a huge heartfelt debt that she will repay her beloved mother bit by bit.Adele was 11 when they moved to West Norwood, where she was the only white child in her class. And it was also fate;it was her new friends who introduced her to R&B.Adele also performed her first performance of Gabrielle's"Rise"there.Everything fell into place like a puzzle.Adele felt the pebbles of the road she was destined to walk in the future under her feet. She never rebelled—there was no reason. She never cried secretly into her pillow, but picked up her guitar and matched the notes to her sorrowful thoughts. This habit of always singing when she was sad remained with her from childhood, like an old tattoo that can no longer be removed.Adele realized early on that without music there was no life for her.And at 14,she decided to take a fateful step:she changed her school for the BRIT School of Performing Arts.It was 2003 and everyone at the school was raving about the newly released single"Frank"by their graduate,Amy Winehouse.Adele could also imitate this singing style, but she was closer to "time-tested music,"as she said about her musical taste.A few years would pass and the press would dub Adele "the new Amy." "I learned to sing by listening to Fitzgerald, who taught me scales and Etta James, who taught me passion."And Amy was among those "teachers." "If it weren't for Amy and her album Frank,I 100% would never have picked up a guitar or written many songs.Although she never liked being "second" - even the best, but not herself. She could name a multitude of reasons that distinguished her from Amy.She never suffered from anorexia or complexes about her appearance."I've been a plus-size since I was a teenager. It's never been a problem.None of my friends were obsessed with my weight."She never took drugs;they called her the new Amy in vain. She is Adele, and everyone will soon hear and recognize that name.By the end of high school, she had collected a dozen songs she had written. She still sang as she had in childhood, for herself, for friends, when she was sad, when she was unhappy in love—but not for money or a career. The words and music of her songs were simply a way of life.A plump, pretty girl in a baggy sweater and a ridiculous knitted hat—she picked up a guitar and sang about what was on her mind.A voice like hers simply couldn't last long in obscurity.
