SH2 - Yamaha XT250 vs BMW 1250GS? Does this make sense? Yes. Let's do it!

I want to make an unusual comparison: I am taking two bikes from completely different classes and compare them based on one simple criterion - how suitable are they to go "Any Road. Any Time. Anywhere."

I ride motorcycles for the sense of freedom they give me. The freedom to explore the world around me without limitations. Highways, mountain roads, local roads, forest trails, places without roads - through my analysis I want to find a bike that would allow an average-sized average-skilled person to go explore all those roads alone (no filming crews, no riding buddies, no nearby repair shops).

I tried to base this on facts and logic. Share your thoughts on methodology I used and the conclusions.
