കേരളത്തിലെ ഒരു പരമ്പരാഗത കലാരൂപമാണ് “ചാക്യാർ കൂത്ത്”. പുരാണങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും ഇതിഹാസങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള എപ്പിസോഡുകൾ അവതാരകൻ വിവരിക്കുന്നു അടിസ്ഥാനപരമായി മോണോലോഗ് കൂത്തിന്റെ ഒരു പരിഷ്കൃത രൂപമാണ്. ചിലപ്പോൾ, ഇത് ആധുനിക സ്റ്റാൻഡ്-അപ്പ് കോമഡി സ്റ്റേജ് ഷോയുടെ ഒരു പരമ്പരാഗത രൂപമാണ് എന്നും പറയാം..
പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രമായ ചാക്യാർക്ക് പരിമിതമായ മേക്കപ്പും തലപ്പാവും വിചിത്രമായ വേഷവിധാനവുമുണ്ട്. ഒരു മിഴാവ് വാദ്യക്കാരൻ മേളം ഒരുക്കുന്നു. മിഴാവ് ആണ് പ്രധാന താളവാദ്യം. ഒരു തുകൽ ഷീറ്റ് കൊണ്ട് വായ മൂടിക്കെട്ടിയ വലിയ മൺ കുടം ആണ് മിഴാവ്. തുടക്കത്തിൽ ഈ വാദ്യം കൂടുതലായി ഉപയോഗിക്കും, എങ്കിലും ശേഷം സമയം തീരെ കുറവാണ് ഉപയോഗം.
ചാക്യാരുടെ നർമ ബോധം ആണ് ഈ പരിപാടിയുടെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണം. സംസ്‌കൃതത്തിലെ ഗദ്യവും കവിതയും അദ്ദേഹം ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയും മലയാളത്തിൽ വിശദീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. വിനോദകരമായ അന്തരീക്ഷം സൃഷ്ടിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹം വിവേകവും നർമ്മവും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.


Chakyar Koothu
Chakyar Koothu is a traditional Art Form of Kerala, India. It is basically a refined form of monologue where the performer narrates episodes from epics and stories from the Puranas, sometimes, It seems further as a traditional form of modern stand-up comedy stage show which discusses current socio-political events with personal comments pointed to the members of the audience.
Chakyar the principal character has limited makeup, a headgear and peculiar costume set. He is supported by one Drummer to use Mizhavu, a big earthenware pot mouth covered with leather sheet to form a drum (called Mizhavu). This instrument is used lavishly in the biggening only and rarely thereafter. Comedy sense of Chakyar is the main attraction of the show. He uses Sanskrit prose and poetry as well in the first part and explains in plain Malayalam. He uses wits and humour to create an entertaining air.
