Seen working the very last Torbay Express from Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear is Southern Railway rebuilt West Country Pacific number 34046 'Braunton', seen here passing Teignmouth as seen from Alexandra Terrace, where I had perched myself perilously atop a small Electricity Box in order to get past the unnecessarily high Nanny State fencing.

The evening shot was taken at Teignmouth station, where in the driving rain Braunton made a spectacular show of whistles and steam as it ploughed home with the return working. Apologies for the rainwater on the lens, thankfully it wasn't as obtrusive as it could have been, but there was little I could do in the last few seconds before the locomotive appeared.

Overall, this year's Torbay Express hasn't disappointed, although the lack of varied traction as compared to last years excursion (which consisted of 60019 'Bittern', 70000 'Britannia' and 71000 'Duke of Gloucester') was a bit of a letdown, this year's traction of the beautiful 5029 'Nunney Castle' and the glorious return of the might 'Braunton' was indeed welcome. Again, a spectacular year by our good friends at the Torbay Express, and I wish them the very best in making next year's set of tours equally as spectacular!
