Now mid May these Chaffinch chicks are now only one week old. It was only last week I filmed this female nesting, but now four beautiful chicks has been hatched.

Here in northern Europe the Common Chaffinch (latin name - Fringilla coelebs) have its breeding season from late April and in some instances middle of July. Now we are in the middle of May - so these chicks were incubated for 11-13 days by the female. Now that these chicks have hatched they will reared for another 13-14 days before they will leave the nest.

The tones you hear in the background is from an Chaffinch. Here in this nest the male Chaffinch only guarded the nest but did not feed the chicks while I was filming.

This wonderful are is located only 5 km from our other home here in Norway, and we use this area for recreation, birding, exercising and fishing. The water is freshwater and you are allowed to fish and camp here.

Today the temperature was between 5° to 11° Centigrades and a little bit windy.
