Manitoba's $120 Polar Bear & Beluga Safari! (Summer in Churchill is jaw-dropping!) 🇨🇦 🐻 🐳

Imagine being surrounded by hundreds of white beluga whales, popping their bodies above the surface of the water every few seconds as you sail across the murky waters of Hudson Bay. Now, imagine a helicopter gently nudging a polar bear into the river, at which point your tour boat is asked to escort the beast across the water. Welcome to Churchill, Manitoba - one of Canada's premier wildlife safari destinations.

I had an incredible day on the water with Sea North Tours (prices from $120), whose trips on the water rival any safari in Africa. The wildlife in Churchill is so readily available, it seems almost too good to be true.

Apart from close encounters with beluga whales and polar bears, I visited the impressive 18th century Prince of Wales Fort, on the shores of Hudson Bay - one of the best preserved colonial fortifications in North America.

If you ever have the means to travel to Churchill, don't hesitate to go - the insects are horrible, the prices sky-high, but the memories and the experiences of seeing raw Canadian wildlife just meters from your boat are one of the world's great travel experiences and spectacles.
