PackeTV Mobile employs, IP network friendly, HTTP Live Streaming. HLS technology is a process of taking live (or stored) video streams and making them available to mobile devices via Ethernet or Wi-Fi (and fixed devices like STBs, Macs and PCs). Quite simply, the H.264 source streams are cut into short file "chunks" which are then requested one-after-another by the client mobile device player. The "chunks" are delivered to the requesting player using HTTP file transfers. HTTP powers your browser and is easily transported across most networks and firewalls.
