This lecture is an introduction to radiation safety and radiobiology, which is geared toward medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. My goal is to provide an evidence-based overview with the hope of increasing awareness of patient and operator safety as it pertains to ionizing radiation for medical imaging.

In this video, I a) provide an overview of the chemistry & physics of radiation safety, b) introduce basic units of radiation, c) detail medical & non-medical sources of ionizing radiation, d) highlight effects of radiation exposure, and e) discuss methods of reducing patient and provider ionizing radiation exposure.
