cover discussions - Dennis Busenitz

Dennis had us drop by his home in Northern California where we sat him down in front of his covers so he could tell us some background details. On his first trip to California on spring break from welding school in 2000, Luke Ogden shot some photos at the Alameda skatepark. In June of that year one wound up on the cover of Thrasher. He ended up on the second to last issue of Slap in 2008 with a wild tailslide in Berkeley shot by Gabe Morford. Dave Chami shot the 2012 Transworld cover at 3rd & Army. And his 2016 Thrasher cover in the rain at China Banks was shot by Joe Brook. Well after we shot this interview we stumbled on to the 2002 Happy Mag cover of Dennis at Burnside shot by Andrew Mapstone. Shout outs to John Motta, Phil Shao, & Andrew Reynolds. Shot Dec 2022.
