Pad women win Oscars | Period. End of Sentence

In rural Uttar Pradesh, Suman and Sneha on seeing the pathetic condition of women in their village, started a campaign of awareness and personal hygiene for women. NGO Action India supported the initiative and helped in establishing a unit for manufacturing sanitary pads. A Hollywood documentary film maker Rayka Zehtabchi came to know about them and she decided to make a short film on their struggle.

The film highlights the social stigma attached to menstruation and depicts the struggles of women who helped install sanitary pad-making machines in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Period. End of Sentence, a documentary on menstruation, directed by Rayka Zehtabchi won the Oscars in the “Documentary Short Subject” category.
