Mucocele can be caused by accumulation of saliva or the minor ducts getting blocked and there will be a swelling. It can be in people who have lip biting or maybe trauma. So these kind of swellings can be caused. However some mucoceles are self-limiting. They will subside by itself, but if not a surgical intervention by a dentist is required to relieve the discomfort caused by the mucocele and we should also make sure that the mucocele does not get infected and so if there is an infection or any chronic condition associated with that, then that needs to be attended. However it is not very difficult to attend mucocele otherwise.
