In this video I'll show you how I generally wash my bike mid-week. Since it's the wet season in Malaysia, I often cycle in the rain. Rather than leave the accumulated dirt and gunk to the end of the week, I will usually give it a good rinse and some lathering using just soapy water. What the video does not show is that you should rinse the sponge before dipping it back again into the soapy water so as not to transfer the dirt.
Once the bike is washed, wipe the frame and drivetrain down with a towel. Reapply chain lube if needed after chain is dry.
The only difference between this quick bike wash and a deep cleaning bike wash is that I will apply a degreaser to the drive train, give it a good scrub before rinsing it off. I will then proceed to wash the bike as per this video.
I believe how one washes the bike is a personal thing, and this is how I do mine.
