Here is a short video of my inexpensive DIY masking system in action. The screen is a DIY white spandex over black spandex with a 100 inch diagonal. The borders are black velvet wrapped 1X4 pieces attached with magnets to L brackets mounted to the screen. The top mask is black velvet attached to an electric roller shade. The top mask bar is a cheap piece of trim from Home Depot. As the top mask is dropped the bottom mask is raised by running a cable behind the roller. The bottom masked is attached by a turnbuckle with a hook on the end to an eye hook. The bottom mask bar is a piece of sanded 1/4 inch plywood cut 2 inches wide. The cheap trim pieces used for the top mask were not rigid enough to hold the weight of the mask without bowing but the plywood is strong enough. Another piece of trim is attached to the bottom of the bottom mask to weigh it down a bit providing tension to the mask.
