History was in the making as the IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus, the first ever international campus by IIT Madras and by any of an #IIT, came into effect on November 6th. The new campus was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, Hon’ble President of Zanzibar. The event saw extensive participation from Tanzanian officials, Indian dignitaries, faculty, and students. The campus will be headed by Prof. Preeti Aghalayam, who will be the Director In-Charge of the Zanzibar campus.
