Owain Glyndwr - Rebel Prince of Wales

Welsh history is full of national heroes though few loom as large as Owain Glyndwr. His failed rebellion was the last large-scale attempt by the Welsh people to resist English rule. As the idea of a Welsh national identity was revived in the 19th century, this tenacious warrior was elevated from local folk hero to a semi-mythic father of the nation.
