HP's revolutionary first inkjet printer: the HP 2225A ThinkJet

The HP 2225 ThinkJet printer was a technology tour de force in its time. Cheaper and smaller than other competing personal printers (maybe save for the thermal ones), it was the first practical consumer inkjet printer. It introduced the concept of the disposable ink cartridge. It was even made in a portable battery-powered version which you could hook up to an HP calculator.

I found this one laying on its back, in pretty sad shape, at a surplus store. It is one of the rarer and original "A" models with the HP-IB interface. Made in 1985, it looks and feels like a much more modern machine. It is so cute and historically significant - the first of the ThinkJet branded printers - I could not resist to pick it up, restore it and add it to my collection.

Sure enough, this HP-IB version works only with HP equipment, so it was begging to be connected to my HP 85. Here it is compared with my Daisy Wheel printer of the same period, and the internal thermal printer of the HP 85.
