American Dad PS2 actually runs most of its code on the PS1 CPU, which is done by putting the PS2 into an undocumented mode of functionality where the PS1 CPU is used for game functions, and the PS2 CPU is used to boost the GPU. This is in contrast to the standard use of the processors (PS2 CPU for game logic, PS1 CPU for input handling, GPU for graphics). However, for a handful of frames and the start and end, the PS1 CPU is used for rendering while the other processors initialize.

Because of the strange way it all functions, it's actually possible to run the game on an original PlayStation using a modchip or swap tricks, bypassing protection and allowing the execution of the game's code. The game runs on the system, but graphics are only present for the first and last handful of frames before the display is switched to the PS2 CPU and GPU, which don't exist because we're on an original PlayStation. So the game can be played, but you'll be without video for the majority of the run.

However, this also results in another side-effect: no frame limit. The frame limiting code normally runs on the PS2 CPU, and since this code doesn't exist, the game runs as fast as the processor is capable of running. This results in the game running so fast that even if you were to mess up in all the worst ways possible, you'd still get a better time than the world record, so long as you don't die. The best possible strategy is to hold left on the left stick and mash X as fast as you can to finish the game.
