How do we come to a decision together as fast as possible but also as inclusive as possible? Consent offers an elegant way: a decision is made when there are no objections, i.e. no one's needs can be ignored.
The consent process walks a group through safe decision-making: we make sure everyone understands, gets a chance to respond, and then we hear whether there are any objections. Sociocracy also offers a framework of how to work in objections to improve the proposal and stay in forward motion.
