Try this as well, since mine worked only for a few days, it's not the laser only

Doing this is on your own risk, you might fry your laser, so be careful! Don't blame me for any damage on your unit.
After changing the belt, she finally worked again, but she did not like all the discs, and sometimes just did not read them at all.
I found a hint on the web, mentioning that the laser might be weak, or burned, and the potentiometer might be an issue, so I gave it a try....with success as you can see in part two
