Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. On April 22, he became the fastest to reach 5,000 runs in IPL, doing so in just 130 innings during a match against Lucknow Super Giants. The 32-year-old from Bengaluru needed 51 runs and reached the milestone with a single in the 18th over of a 160-run chase. Rahul, who joined DC for Rs 14 crore last year, broke David Warner’s record, who reached 5,000 runs in his 135th inning.

During his match against LSG on Tuesday, Rahul surpassed Robin Uthappa and Chris Gayle to become the eighth highest run-scorer in IPL history. Virat Kohli remains the top scorer with 8,326 runs in 260 matches. Rahul made his IPL debut in 2013 and has played for five teams over 12 years. This season, he’s DC’s leading run-scorer, with three half-centuries in seven matches.
