In this series, we look at a particular unit from the Civil War and explore how their arms and uniforms changed throughout the war and look at the impact that this had on the men. Meet the 9th Kentucky Infantry, Confederate. They were part of the famed Orphan Brigade. A few things make this regiment interesting to learn about. Just to start, they switched to being mounted infantry during the war.
