Rolep (রোলেপ) is a small but beautiful village & most the serene and esplanade village of Sikkim in East Sikkim district, with inhabitant of all indigenous communities such as Gurung, Bhutia, Sherpas, Chettri, Sharma and Rai. This is a new addition destination of Old silk route or Zuluk trip itinerary.  It is a part of old Silk route which is connected to China through Nathula route for the propagation of trade & pilgrimage.

          The village situated at the bottom of Memeantshu Lake and Tshangu Lake along with the ‘Rangpoo khola’ (River Rangpoo) belt which is famous for Trout fishing and fresh cool water. Visitors can enjoy the scenic view of fresh tea gardens & plunder the merriment of river Rangpo & its tributaries, religious temples and monasteries. 

Rolep village having significant cultural, historical, natural & religious importance and has been gained popularity as an Eco-Tourism area of Sikkim. Baudha cave is situated in a northern part of extreme Rolep village in a very dense forest. It is one of the most important places for the people of Sikkim, Bhutan, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and other states.

How to Reach Rolep

Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), New Mal Jn. (NMZ) and nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB). Direct car/taxies are available from NJP, Bagdogra and Siliguri, distance around 132 kms from Siliguri and it will take around 4.5 to 5 hrs. to reach. Someone also can reach Rolep from Kalimpong, distance around 80 kms and it may take approx. 3.5 hrs. Rolep also can be reached from capital city Gangtok it may take approx. 4 hrs and distance around 85 kms.

Best Season to Visit Rolep

Rolep is open throughout the year, but April to November is best time to visit Rolep and nearby Silk Route destination.
