http://www.euronews.com/ An exhibition on an iconic perfume opens in the Palais de Tokyo in Paris this weekend, inviting visitors to explore the history and mystery behind Chanel No 5.

The famous bottle has even been painted by renowned artists such as Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol.

The famous scent was created in 1921 and was the fifth version of samples Russian and French perfumier Ernest Beaux presented to French fashion designer Coco Chanel.

"It's an exhibition on a very secret topic -- which is a perfume. By definition, a perfume is something which is very intimate, very secret for those who wear it, who live it. It's linked to very personal moments," said exhibition curator Jean-Louis Froment

Chanel is believed to have come up with the idea for a perfume after the death of her lover, English polo player Arthur Capel, who was killed in a car accident in 1919.
